Darrell Widner, PE
Director, Power & Utilities
Darrell provides operational leadership for large-scale district energy and utility projects. Building upon nearly 30 years of electrical engineering and project management experience, Darrell leads the design and implementation of innovative power generation and supply, energy distribution, and resilience solutions. He understands how the changing energy landscape affects a wide range of clients — from higher education and healthcare institutions to utilities and heavy industry. Darrell is trusted for his unique ability to manage capital project risks, navigating complex regulatory, financial, and project delivery challenges.
Professional Highlights
- Led design team for Clemson University’s self-healing smart grid, one of the most-advanced higher education microgrids
- Managed planning and design for the interconnection and substation at TPCO America’s $1-billion pipe manufacturing facility in Gregory, Texas
- Design, construction and startup for blackstart support at two Vistra Energy power plants, combined capacity of 1,960 MW
