The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority (BGPAA) is undertaking a $1.1-billion replacement project, known as Elevate BUR. The project will modernize terminal facilities at Hollywood-Burbank Airport, a regional airport serving Greater Los Angeles.
Elevate BUR replaces a century-old terminal with a larger and more contemporary, 355,000-square-foot building. The new terminal’s design is inspired by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and the film industry.
The 14-gate replacement terminal will enhance the passenger experience, comply with current seismic codes, and expand the airport’s functional capacity. The project will include construction of a new parking structure, on-airport access road, and an air cargo and maintenance facility.
Burns serves as the IT/special systems program manager, providing oversight for technology design elements on the Jacobs-led project management team. Burns is collaborating with the design-build team led by Holder, Pankow, TEC, Joint Venture (HPTJV).
The terminal will be constructed in phases. Initial operation is anticipated in October 2026.
