HCA Florida Osceola Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center and 404-bed teaching hospital. The Kissimmee-based facility serves the surrounding communities of Orlando, St. Cloud, Celebration and Poinciana.
HCA Florida Osceola’s steam heat and domestic hot water infrastructure included systems that, at 27 years old, were reaching the end of their useful life. HCA Healthcare engaged Burns to perform an analysis of the hospital’s central heating equipment.
Burns undertook a comprehensive assessment of the heating systems and recommended replacement of the hospital’s:
Building upon Burns’ recommendations, HCA engaged Burns to manage a series of infrastructure upgrades. Serving as the engineer of record on a design/build contract, Burns oversaw a $3.6-million replacement project for the hospital’s district heating system.
Burns managed a phased installation, leading design and construction management for the following infrastructure systems:
Throughout the project, Burns maintained continuity of the hospital’s heating systems, minimizing disruption to hospital operations. Construction is scheduled to complete in 2024.
