Burns is thrilled to celebrate Burns’ Chief Engineer of Signals, Communications and Train Control William Wiedmann’s prestigious designation as a Fellow by the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE).
IRSE is the professional institution for railway signaling and telecommunications, train control, traffic management and allied professions.
IRSE reserves the fellowship honor for industry leaders who advance the science of railway signaling and telecommunications, while promoting professional development of the industry’s up-and-coming engineers.
Bill has more than 45 years of industry experience, including a dozen years of IRSE involvement. He is an industry-wide expert and thought leader, first joining IRSE when he started at Burns. Bill is widely respected for his detailed understanding of signal engineering, maintenance, and installation.
Bill is currently a chairperson of AREMA Committee 37 (Signal Systems) and a member of AREMA Committees 36 (Highway Grade Crossings).
