Continuing our long-standing role as an engineering partner for the University of Pennsylvania, Burns is designing mechanical and electrical system upgrades at historic Silverman Hall.
Supporting Voith & Mactavish Architects, Burns will integrate contemporary facility designs into the Baroque-styled Carey Law School.
Mechanical upgrades will improve comfort, performance and efficiency within the building’s classroom and study areas. Electrical and ventilation-system improvements will enable an energy-saving LED retrofit, with designs that accommodate Silverman Hall’s high-dome ceilings.
In 2020, Burns was part of a VMA-led design team that modernized three Silverman Hall classrooms. The project received recognition from architectural organizations across the country for responsible stewardship of a historically significant building.
