PATCO Speedline Receives Innovative Transportation Solution Award

Burns congratulates the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) for their upcoming recognition at the 2024 WTS Philadelphia Sapphire Awards Ceremony. DRPA will be honored with the Innovative Transportation Solution Award to celebrate the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) Speedline achieving full ADA compliance.
PATCO is one of the first transit systems in the country to be fully ADA accessible. Passengers who board and exit stations connecting Philadelphia with Southern New Jersey now have a far superior travel experience. The project involved new elevator installations, concourse extensions, ramp and stairway modifications, and fare gate improvements.
Burns delivered structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection designs, supporting Sowinski Sullivan Architects. During the construction phase, DRPA contracted Burns for construction monitoring services.
